Tim And greg Hildebrandt

Throughout Greg and Tim Hildebrandt’s careers, the twin brothers have worked both together and separately over the years, winning awards and fame. They have created everything from their own fantasy novel, Urshurak, to the world-famous poster for Star Wars, to the best-selling calendars illustrating J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. They also have worked on advertising art, classic children's books, and the covers of numerous fantasy and science fiction novels.

The twins were greatly influenced to become artists because of the artistic impact that the work of Walt Disney had on them, especially the animated features, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Fantasia. They were also strongly influenced by many of the great comic books of the era, especially Green Lantern, Terry and the Pirates, Batman and Superman. Tim and Greg enrolled in Meinzingers Art School in Detroit to help them become artists.

The Hildebrandts, who were virtually unknown as artists, burst into the world of illustration in 1975, being chosen to illustrate the 1976 Lord of the Rings calendar. They went on to illustrate the Tolkien calendars for the next two years, with the 1978 calendar selling more than one million copies.

The sudden fame and exposure caused by their work on the Lord of the Rings calendars provided the twins, now known as the Brothers Hildebrandt, many amazing opportunities. Some of their works included illustrating the best selling The Sword of Shanarra, a poster for the 1979 re-release of Barbarella, and the world-famous poster for first Star Wars film.
