Enemies

When you're as big, powerful, and intelligent as the Wookiees you're bound to have those that are jealous and envious who are better known as enemies. This page covers many of the enemies of the Wookiees and one Wookiee in particular, Chewbacca.

Enemies of the Wookiees

Trandoshans

The Trandoshans are the main enemy of the Wookiees. There is much hatred between Trandoshans by the Wookiees because the Trandoshans were instrumental in helping the Empire to capture and enslave the Wookiees to strengthen the workforce needed for the many different projects throughout the Empire. It also doesn't help that both species worlds are next to each other.

The Sith

The evil Sith-lords are the main reason behind the fall of the Jedi Order and the Republic which eventually brought about Wookiee slavery by the newly formed empire. The Wookiees had a large respect for the Jedi order and especially Master Yoda who was good friends with the Wookiees.

Stormtroopers

When order sixty-six was issued many Wookiees were killed when the Stormtroopers were searching for Yoda. Later when Kashyyyk was invaded by the Empire for Wookiee worker slaves, the Stormtroopers were the tools used to take the planet and to capture and subdue the angry Wookiees by sheer force of numbers and superior firepower.

The Empire

Workers were needed to help the newly created Galactic Empire with the many many building projects throughout the myriad of systems controlled by the Empire. Too many people were already needed for the military to enforce the piece throughout Imperial controlled space and a secret weapon was being built to help influence new star systems to join their Empire called the Death Star. The Empire wanted strong and skilled workers to help in their projects; they decided that the Wookiees would make good workers. So the Imperials invaded Kashyyyk with the help of many trandoshans, killing the Wookiees that fought back but in the end the planet was taken and thousands of Wookiees were enslaved and distributed through-out the Empire's many worlds.

Enemies of Chewbacca

Darth Vader

Darth Vader was once known as Anikin Skywalker a skilled and powerful Jedi knight had been corrupted by Emperor Palpatine to join the dark side of the force. When he turned to evil he was instrumental in destroying the Jedi order and helping bring about the Galactic Empire. He was the Emperor's emissary and highest ranking official in command of his own fleet called the death squadron.

Chewbacca first saw Darth Vader while aboard the first Death Star but didn't meet him until years later at Cloud City on the planet Bespin. The meeting happened when the Mellinium Falcon needed fixed Han went to his old friend Lando Calrissian for help. Darth Vader, who had been after the Rebel group of Han, Chewie, and Leia, tracked them down with Boba Fett's help and having arrived before the Falcon set up a trap with Lando to catch the Rebels. Vader captured them to lure Luke Skywalker who was strong in the force into his grasp to be delivered to the Emperor to be converted to the dark side of the force.

Vader wanted to be sure that, Luke when captured, could be safely taken to the Emperor without escaping. He decided that freezing Luke in carbon might work but wanted to test it on captain Solo first. The freezing chamber was made ready and the Rebels were brought out and told what was going on but Chewbacca upon hearing that his best friend was to be frozen went into a mad rage killing two of the guards. Chewbacca was quickly restrained and had to watch helplessly as Han was lowered into the freezing chamber. When the freezing process was done a giant claw pulled up the frozen captain who had survived the process. Soon after the group along with Luke Skywalker escaped Vader's grasp aboard the Millennium Falcon and eventually rescued Han Solo but Chewbacca will never forget the day he met Darth Vader.

Lando Calrissian (for a short time)

After the rebel base had been captured Leia needed to leave quickly but couldn't get to her transport so Han Solo had to take her aboard the Millennium Falcon along with Chewbacca, and C-3P0. But after escaping the frying pan they were thrown into the fire by being chased half-way accross the galaxy by the Imperial fleet. After losing the pursuers the Falcon was unable to go to lightspeed so it needed to be fixed and the only thing Han could think was asking his old friend Lando Calrissian to fix it. Lando said he would fix the ship and let the group stay with him in Cloud City, but he betrayed them to Boba Fett and Darth Vader. He made a deal with Vader to protect his important position from being taken from him although not meaning for the deal to get as bad as it later became. Vader whittled the deal down to where Han was frozen in carbonite much to the terror of his best friend Chewie and given to Boba Fett as his bounty for finding them.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett was known as one of most revered bounty hunters in the galaxy . Fett was one of the the bounty hunters Darth Vader brought in to find the missing rebels Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Leia aboard the Mellinnium Falcon. After evading the Imperials by hiding his ship on the back of a star destroyer, Han Solo thinking that they had escaped any more trouble fired up the engines and off. But unbeknownst to him Bobo Fett was right behind him in his ship Slave 1 Han and his friends were headed for a trap. After being captured Han was frozen in carbonite and taken by Fett to Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine, a vile gangster who had set a bounty on Solo's head. Han's close friends who had escaped the Imperials decided to rescue Han from Jabba's Palace. After thawing out Han from carbonite the rebels were discovered and sentenced to be thrown into a Sarlac pit a giant creature consisting of a mouth with tentacles sticking out of it. The rebels were taken along with some spectators including Boba fett, above the sarlac on a skiff (a small hovering vehicle) but instead of being thrown in they had other plans. Fett tried to help stop the rebels from escaping but ended up getting knocked into the Sarlac pit thereby ending his illustrious career as one of the greatest bounty hunters in the galaxy.

Bounty Hunters

Darth Vader brought in some of the galaxies greatest known bounty hunters to help him track down the Millennium Falcon which had suddenly and totally disappeared from the Imperial pursuit. The list bounty hunters that showed up included Bossk, Boba Fett, Zuckuss, Dengar, IG-88, and 4-LOM. Boba Fett ended up being the successful hunter, collecting the reward Vader had offered for finding the Falcon.

Jabba the Hutt

Jabba the Hutt a large slug-like creature was the biggest crime lord on the remote desert planet of Tatooine and Han and Chewbacca's first employer. Han and Chewie were Jabba's best smugglers until being boarded by Imperials Solo dumped the cargo he was smuggling to avoid being caught. Jabba was angry that Solo had dumped the cargo and demanded Han pay back every cent that it had been worth or he would set a bounty on his head. Hoping to pay off the debt he owed to Jabba, Han took a job offer from an old man named (Obi-Wan) Kenobi and a young man named (Luke) Skywalker not knowing what the job would entail.

Han and Chewbacca ended up joining the Rebel Alliance which kept Jabba the Hutt from being paid, causing him to raise the bounty on Solo's head. Han's inability to pay the debt caught up to him in the form Boba Fett one of the greatest bounty hunters in the galaxy. Fett tracked Han down at bespin where Solo was frozen in carbon freeze and delivered to Jabba's palace aboard Fett's ship Slave-1.

Leia came after Han disguised as the bounty hunter Bouush and brought Chewbacca as a prisoner for Jabba, to help gain access into the palace. Later that night Leia (as bouush) snuck over to the frozen Han Solo, and started the thawing process, minutes later Leia was helping a shivering Han to the door when suddenly a familiar laugh, the laugh of Jabba the Hutt echoed throughout the palace, they were caught! Luke Skywalker showed up the next morning demanding his friends be set free but Jabba scoffed at him and had him thrown to the Rancor a giant flesh eating monster. Luke killed the beast much to the wrath of the Hutt who ordered Luke and his friends to be thrown to the Sarlacc a giant mouth with tentacles. The group was taken into the desert along with Jabba and his entourage, aboard Jabba's huge sail-barge to the Sarlacc, to watch the executions.

The rebel group had made a plan of escape before any of them entered the palace, it was now time to put it into action. Luke was the first to be thrown to the Sarlacc, but R2 was waiting on the Sailbarge with Luke's lightsaber. Luke walking to the end of the skiff plank suddenly did a backflip over the guard, caught his lightsaber that R2 had fired to him and shoved the guard into the pit. A large battle followed with the Rebels winning the day and escaping with their lives as Jabba and his minions were consumed as the Sailbarge was disintegrated in a huge ball of fire.
